Cake Stand in Walnut

I'm really pleased with this Walnut cake stand that is fresh off the lathe at the start of this year.

The contrast of the grain throughout the board that I chose to use is really rich. The heartwood in the middle that transitions to the sapwood towards the edge makes for a really intriguing pattern.

I used the same board for the foot, so the grain appears to continue through from top to bottom.

A very special cake stand for particularly special occasions.
